The percentage of people employed in the labor force and unemployment rate are basic indicators of economic prosperity. An increasing percentage of employed people indicates that the local workforce has the skills needed for the jobs that are available. A decreasing unemployment rate signals that the economy is strong enough to provide jobs for those who are able to work.

This indicator evaluates the percentage of employed people in the labor force and unemployment rate. Data comes from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, Table S2301, 5-year estimate.
