Winston-Salem, known as the City of Arts and Innovation, is the fifth largest city in North Carolina with a 2013 total population estimate of 236,441. Winston-Salem is home to several colleges and universities including Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University, Salem College and University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

With the creation of the Office of Sustainability, the city has been able to analyze the latest in trends of what our community is doing in providing services that reflect the City’s leadership in energy and environmental awareness.
