The City of Fayetteville, Arkansas’s strategic vision is “To preserve, promote and enhance Fayetteville’s funky identity and vibrant quality of life through provisions for civic engagement, transparent government, fair and equitable services and thoughtful development.” To this end, the City is focused on becoming a resource efficient community of livable neighborhoods that meets present needs without compromising opportunities for health, well-being and the prosperity of future generations. Fayetteville is the first and only city in Arkansas to achieve STAR Certification, receiving a 3-STAR rating in 2014.

Since our STAR Certification, the City has been engaged with the community to achieve our vision. Recent livability projects and programs include; the development and adoption of an Active Transportation Plan, the development, adoption, and implementation of a new Economic Development Plan, the creation of a Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Program and the development and adoption of an Invasive Plant ordinance that restricts the planting of invasive plants in commercial landscapes with accompanying educational materials.
