Real median household income is commonly used to measure economic performance. It is considered by many statisticians to be a better indicator than average household income as it is not dramatically affected by unusually high or low values.

This indicator assesses the standard of living for working people and their families. Data comes from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, Table DP03, 5-year estimate.
