Louisville was the 13th community in the nation to be recognized with a 4-STAR designation from STAR Communities. Founded by Mayor Greg Fischer in 2012, the Louisville Metro Government Office of Sustainability partners with community organizations, business owners, faith leaders, individual residents and public officials to work towards the goals in the city's sustainability plan, Sustain Louisville.
As a 4-STAR Community, a member of the 100 Resilient Cities Network, and a Global Covenant of Mayors signatory, Louisville strives to support existing assets and improve community weaknesses. Efforts are underway to address climate change locally and globally, reduce crime and recidivism, support residents of all nationalities, increase the tree canopy, protect clean air and water and manage heat in our urban city. We look forward to continuing work with our partners to help achieve even more success in the years ahead.
